Expansion of Saudia Airlines in Bangladesh Marks New Era in Air Travel

Saudia Airlines, the national carrier of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, has taken a significant step forward in its operations within Bangladesh by opening a new state-of-the-art City Ticketing Office in Dhaka. This development marks a key milestone in the airline's commitment to improving travel services and strengthening ties between the two nations.

The new office is located on the 16th floor of Simpletree Attalika on Gulshan Avenue. The inauguration ceremony was attended by several high-profile officials, including Dr. Abdullah Zafer H. Bin Abiyah, the Saudi Ambassador to Bangladesh. Musaed Almusaed, Assistant Vice President of International Regions at Saudia Airlines, and Dr. Md Nazrul Islam, Secretary (East & West) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, were also present at the event.

During the ceremony, Ambassador Dr. Abiyah emphasized the long-standing relationship between Saudi Arabia and Bangladesh. He expressed confidence that the new facility would enhance travel convenience and strengthen people-to-people connections, particularly for those traveling for Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages.

Dr. Nazrul Islam welcomed the investment, highlighting Saudia's role as a trusted partner in the aviation sector. He stated that this new initiative would support the growing demand for travel while reinforcing bilateral relations between the two countries.

Tarik Alowaidi, Saudia's Country Manager for Bangladesh, mentioned that the airline has increased its flight frequency to meet rising demand. He added that the new office reflects the company's commitment to providing efficient, comfortable, and accessible services to passengers.

Ahmed Yusuf Walid, Saudia's General Sales Agent in Bangladesh, noted that the airline has become a preferred choice for long-haul travel to Europe and North America. He also highlighted the convenience of the stopover visa program, which offers options for Umrah pilgrims.

Advanced Facilities Designed for Efficiency and Comfort

The newly established Gulshan office is the most advanced facility of Saudia Airlines in Bangladesh. It is built to international standards and features dedicated counters for general passengers, premium cabin customers, and AlFursan frequent flyers. The space also includes a meeting area for travel trade partners and a training and conference room.

This expansion aims to improve accessibility, reduce waiting times, and enhance the overall passenger experience. A strong focus has been placed on digitized services, ensuring a more seamless and modern travel experience for customers.

In addition to the new office, Saudia will continue operating its existing ticketing offices at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka and in Agrabad, Chattogram. This multi-location strategy ensures broader coverage and better service for travelers across the country.

Alignment with Global Tourism Initiatives

The inauguration of the new office coincided with World Tourism Day 2025, underscoring Saudi Arabia's efforts to promote its tourism sector. Initiatives such as Umrah Plus are designed to encourage travelers to combine spiritual journeys with cultural and leisure experiences across the Kingdom.

This move by Saudia Airlines not only strengthens its presence in Bangladesh but also supports the broader goals of enhancing regional connectivity and promoting sustainable tourism. With improved infrastructure and enhanced services, the airline is well-positioned to meet the evolving needs of travelers and contribute to the growth of air travel in the region.
